DEMOGRAPHICS / CLIMATE
Chicago Southland is characterized by the warm summers and cold winters associated with a Midwestern climate in close proximity to the Great Lakes. Changes in the weather can be sudden and strong breezes are common in late fall and early spring. The lowest temperatures occur when air flows southward to Lake Superior before moving into Northwest Indiana. The higher temperatures occur during the summer months when the air flow is from the south or southwest.
