Nationally recognized for its serene, family oriented communities, Beaver County blends small-town intimacy with prime resources for business and industry. Those who have settled in this beautiful region truly believe they have discovered the best of all living environments—an attitude of pride that reaches into the school system, community planning activities, the service sector, and civic organizations. Joe Namath is a native of Beaver County, once the star quarterback of the Beaver Falls Area High School team.

Like many areas of Pennsylvania, the region was once devoted to agricultural activity. Over 660 farms still remain, adding a rural flavor to the countryside and amassing a total value of $21 million in crops, livestock, and milk alone. This vital area has not only developed a sophisticated network of highways, railroads, airports, and rivers that connect with major arteries, it enjoys quick and easy access to the bustling industrial corridor that leads to the Pittsburgh International Airport. In fact, outstanding accessibility is one of the region’s most obvious assets.

Services
Beaver County maintains fifteen local school districts as well as the Beaver County Vocational Technical School, working together to provide students with superb instructors and the most progressive learning technologies and facilities possible. The possibilities for higher education close to home include the convenient two-year institution, the Community College of Beaver County. Other choices include Geneva College and the Beaver campus for Pennsylvania State University. Within the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area, a diversity of other colleges and institutions offer degrees and certifications that meet every educational need.

Residents of Beaver County also benefit from the presence of a hospital that is included under the umbrella of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center system, one of the finest medical and research institutions in Pennsylvania. UPMC Beaver Valley is a 183-bed acute-care hospital with a wide variety of specialties that include the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute at Beaver Valley; UPMC HomeCare, UPMC West Outpatient Surgery Center, and a full spectrum of community education and health-screening programs.

Lifestyle
Newcomers to Beaver County will find abundant resources that include generous parcels of rich land as well as attractive, affordable housing. The region’s quiet, tree-shaded neighborhoods punctuated with porch swings, flower beds, and carefully landscaped yards are reminiscent of the best of “early America.” Even though the communities are keep stride at the forefront of western Pennsylvania’s progress, the boroughs and cities have managed to preserve a small-town feeling. PTA meetings, potluck dinners at the neighborhood school, and shop owners who know their customers by name are just a few of the hallmarks of daily life.

Outdoor enthusiasts can take their time exploring the four state and county parks, collectively providing facilities and opportunities skiing, boating, fishing, hiking, bridle trails, ballfields, tennis, ice-skating, and relaxing in secluded niches. Wonderful historic sites like Old Economy Village in Ambridge are often listed on the National Historical Register site. County fairs, quilting shows, performing arts, state game lands, wave pools, civic war re-enactments, year-round ice-skating, shovel-riding contests, antique shops, and winery tours are all part of the kaleidoscope of attractions and activities that make Beaver County an idyllic place to call home.
