Leading hospitals, colleges and universities, cultural riches, and convenient transportation are all close to home in Cambria County. Services
Cambria County provides a quality education from preschool to graduate school. In addition to Cambridge County Community College and a number of technical and vocational schools, the area is home to the four-year institutions of the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown, St. Francis University, and Mount Aloysius College.

Healthcare facilities are equally exceptional, including Memorial Medical Center operated by Conemaugh Health System, Miners Hospital, and the UPMC Lee Regional—part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center network of hospitals and clinics. Cambria County claims the region’s only accredited trauma center, a helicopter rescue service, and Pennsylvania’s first hospice program.

Lifestyle
Residents of Cambridge County benefit from a rich artistic and cultural heritage that includes the performing arts, music, dance, festivals, galleries, and historic sites. Over 120 professional musicians contribute to the success of the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra. The River City Band is another celebrated organization that regularly performs in the elegant, $9 million dollar Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Boasting the recreational delights of the Allegheny Mountains, this naturally beautiful area offers premier opportunities for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, swimming, boating, horseback riding, camping, tennis and golf. Prince Gallitzin State Park and Glendale Lake provide outdoor adventure and relaxation in a scenic alpine setting. Sports fans can enjoy the championship Johnstown Steel baseball team of the Frontier League or the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League. From its roots as a mining region, Cambria County has grown into a home for all seasons—and reasons.

Serving as the county seat, the small community of Ebensburg is steeped in historic significance and claims tree-shaded streets lined with vintage architecture. During the 19th century, many wealthy residents of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia built magnificent “summer cottages” with as many as 20 rooms. Elegant hotels in Ebensburg welcomed guests like Andrew Carnegie, William Vanderbilt, and Mary Todd Lincoln.

Today, Ebensburg is a welcoming community that blends the charm of yesterday with progressive amenities. The borough is the home of the Cambridge County Historical Society Museum and Library and the government offices for Cambria County. Supported by a local airport, the county operates two sprawling industrial parks in this area that are prime for continued growth. The same natural beauty and recreational amenities that drew affluent vacationers delights residents today, including fishing for trout in Lake Rowena.
