Located on the upper Bosque River Valley in central Texas, Erath County has preserved its agricultural heritage, ranking first in dairy cow numbers and production for the state. The county seat of Stephenville serves as the hub of activity and services, home to Tarleton State University or TSU. Public and private schools provide a quality education for area youth, while TSU serves as the educational and cultural center of the Cross Timbers region and surrounding areas. Boasting the only planetarium in the Texas A&M University System, TSU is distinguished as the largest non-land grand agricultural university in the nation.

State-of-the-art healthcare facilities and services are available locally at Harris Methodist Erath County, a 98-bed hospital in Stephenville. Specialties include internal medicine, women’s and infants services, pediatrics, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, ear-nose-throat, ophthalmolgoy, urology, radiology, lithotripsy, sports/industrial rehab, physical therapy, nuclear medicine, CT scanning and MRI. Advanced surgical procedures include laproscopic and laser techniques. Stephenville Medical and Surgical Clinic provides a multi-specialty group practice with a staff that combines physicians, physicians assistant, nurse practitioners, and a dietitian.

Home to several Fortune 500 companies and hundreds of smaller businesses, a major state university campus, and a full-service hospital, the county seat of Stephenville is the undisputed center of activity in Erath County. The small town of Dublin is primarily known for dairy farming and peanut crops, but this hometown to approximately 4,000 residents also boasts the oldest Dr.Pepper bottling plant in the nation. Visitors join local residents in celebrating colorful events like the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day Festival or the Dr. Pepper Days Festival.
