Services
Just 55 miles south of Fort Worth and 35 miles north of Waco, the rural expanse of Hill County is anchored by the county seat of Hillsboro and bordered by the Brazos River to the west. In spite of the agricultural heritage of the region, residents enjoy quality services that include a local full-service hospital and a college campus. Hill Regional Hospital offers a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services that include 24-hour emergency care, advanced diagnostics, numerous therapies, an intensive care unit, obstetrics, inpatient and outpatient surgery, and cataract and laser surgery. In addition to acute-care departments, the hospital offers a skilled nursing facility and a geriatric psychiatric unit.

The commitment to progressive, quality education is evident in Hill County, where a new high school was recently constructed and community college students have the opportunity to teach preschoolers. The new high school allowed a reduction in class size from kindergarten through 12th grade, enhancing the tradition of personalized attention. Hillsboro is home to Hill College, a comprehensive two-year institution that enjoys an expansive 100-acre campus. Texas State Technical College and Baylor University in Waco are both within a 30-mile commute. Within an hour’s drive are such leading institutions of higher education as the University of Texas in Arlington, Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, and Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Lifestyle
Dubbed the “Antique Capital of Interstate 35,” Hillsboro serves as the focal point for retail establishments, restaurants, and cultural attractions for Hill County. Unique venues in this area include the Confederate Research Center, devoted to the Civil War era, and the Audie Murphy Memorial Gun Museum & Weaponry Library. Students of architecture will be fascinated with the Hill County Courthouse, a flamboyant 1890 structure that blends the styling of Classical Revival, Italianate, and French Second Empire. New residents will discover a diversity of lifestyles and settings throughout the small towns and countryside of Hill County. Elegantly restored Victorian homes in the heart of Hillsboro harmonize with modest bungalows, country manors, lakefront properties, and family neighborhoods for an attractive selection of housing.
This agriculturally rich region is also the gateway to gateway to beautiful Lake Whitney Start Park for first-rate outdoor recreational opportunities. Just minutes from home, Lake Whitney offers nearly 50,000 acres of water surface just a 15-minute drive from Hillsboro, while Lake Aquilla adds another 7,000 acres. Swimming pools, golf courses, and parks combine with sparkling lakes to encourage water sports, hiking, biking, camping, horseback riding, fishing, and hunting. White Bluff Resort features a championship golf course and lakefront activities in a tranquil setting. Harmonizing historic architecture and modern development, rural serenity and urban conveniences, Hill County strikes an ideal balance near Metroplex amenities.
