Quality school districts feature favorable teacher/pupil ratios that allow instructors to give personalized attention and one-on-one assistance when needed. One of the highlights for high school students in this region is the James L. Collins Scholarship, honoring 35 graduates each year with four-year college funding. This acute-care hospital is licensed for 162 beds and conveniently located off Interstate 45.

Residents of Navarro County enjoy a full spectrum of recreational activities, highlighted by the presence of the third largest lake in Texas. Championship fishing, relaxed lakefront living, and a wide variety of outdoor adventures are possible with 330 miles of shoreline and 44,752 acres of water surface. Richland Chambers Lake has been dubbed as the “newest coast” of Texas, centrally located between Dallas and Houston. Aficionados of the arts will find a lively cultural community in Navarro County, anchored by the Navarro Council of the Arts. Among the active organizations and facilities are the Cooks Arts, Science and Technology Center, Corsicana Art League, Friends of the Library, Corsicana Chamber Music Players, a local quilting guild, the Navarro County Historical Society, and the Warehouse Living Arts Center.
Parks and recreational programs provide free youth activities and summer concerts in the park, while Navarro College sponsors senior citizen arts and crafts classes. Wonderful festivals and celebrations include Derrick Days with its music in the park, a national juried art show, artistic programming in the schools, and community performances. Home to approximately 27,000 residents, the growing City of Corsicana serves as the vital hub of healthcare, education, and commerce for a regional population. The downtown district is well known to antique collectors, a charming place of brick-lined streets, unique shops, and treasures from yesterday.
